This transaction has allowed the shareholders of CanMar Grain Products Ltd. (“CanMar”) to implement their succession strategy while also taking advantage of synergistic and strategic opportunities by aligning themselves with Hokanson Capital Inc. (“Hokanson”) to grow the business. With the acquisition of CanMar, Hokanson will diversify its agricultural presence into flaxseed products and markets.
CanMar is a vertically integrated, value-added, flaxseed agri-food business located in Regina, Saskatchewan. The company sources, cleans, processes, roasts and distributes flaxseed in bulk quantities and to retail distributors around the world. CanMar sells products under the branded labels "Flax for Nutrition" and "Fee Fi Fo Flax." CanMar also does private label processing and packaging, along with co-packing for other food processors.
Hokanson is a family-owned private investment company with current investments including a large agriculture portfolio with significant farmland holdings and farming operations, destination mountain resort hotels, development land, multi-family real estate and private equity investments.
