This share transaction has allowed the shareholders of Arthur D. Gagnon Farms Ltd. and Gagnon Seed Service Ltd. (“Gagnon Farms”) to carry out their succession plan by selling both companies to a single purchaser. The overall value has been maximized by selling the farm, associated land and seed business together in one transaction. The complexity and costs of selling various assets from the two companies through multiple transactions has been reduced via a series of share sales.
Gagnon Farms is a 2,000-acre grain farm and agricultural seed and farm inputs distribution business located in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. The grain farm produces barley, canola, oats, soybean and wheat, while the seed business primarily sells cereals, oilseeds and chemicals and provides seed cleaning and treatment services.
Gamache Farms is a fourth-generation cattle and grain farm also located near Ste. Rose du Lac. There are currently three generations working together in a very efficient operation that upholds their family values while pursuing their passion of agriculture.
